Westmar State School is located in the northwestern region of Darling Downs South West Region and services the area of Westmar. Westmar is located on the Moonie Highway 74 km west of Moonie and 120 km east of St George. The school has been established for 51 years and serves a farming and grazing community.
Westmar is a non-designated town with a population that is spread over a very large area in the rural Shire of the Dalby Regional Council.
The towns of Goondiwindi, Meandarra, Dalby and Saint George service this small community. The school has an active Parents' and Citizens' Association that has contributed enormously to the education of Westmar students.
Currently the school operates with a teaching principal and a second teacher. The current enrolments of 29 children are taught in two multi-grade settings compromising years Preparatory to Year Three and Years Four to Seven.
The personnel working at the school include a teaching principal, classroom teacher, a visiting music teacher, a visiting Language other than English (LOTE) teacher, two teacher aides, a cleaner, a grounds person and an administrative officer.
